Unsettled is a journey to human exploration, more than a traveling experiences company you get to know new places, new faces, new hearts, new ways of life and new foods to fuel your soul. I’ve had the amazing opportunity of creating community with Unsettled a couple of times, on-site- in Bali and virtually through the Lifestyle Incubator Program and Mastermind Project. I am in awe of what the Unsettled team has built, a haven for wanderers, dreamers, explorers, creators and change makers. Happy and honored to be part of this awesome community. ❤ See less

I had heard of Unsettled and loved the concept, but as someone who works in the travel industry as a tour guide, one of the last things that I want to do when I finally have enough time to be home is to leave again. Unsettled launched it's Virtual Lifestyle Incubator just a few weeks after I had left my job of 4+ years and was losing direction with what I wanted to do next, especially as someone in the realm of location-independent work, where we are often both spoilt by and cursed with options. It was absolutely amazing to be a part of a community of people from so many walks of life who had gone through and were going through many parts of my own process of transitioning in my professional and personal life. The workshops were engaging and really helped my self-esteem in so many ways as well. I highly highly HIGHLY recommend anyone to join this virtual experience, no matter where in your life process you might be right now. See less

I've lived with Unsettled on a couple of their month long retreats, traveled with them to the Sacred Valley, and sailed with them in Baja. And while those experiences were AMAZING, I also completed their virtual retreat in January 2020 and am so glad I did. It's constructed in such a way that no matter what your goal is going in, you will absolutely learn something, connect with awesome new people, and take away more than you would have imagined. It's done in such a way that is well planned, thought provoking, and pushes your thinking and actions to the next level. Highly recommend if you are at a pivot point in your life, if you are looking for your next chapter, or if you want to simply discover how to move purposefully in whatever your future path might be. The construct of the retreat itself is wonderful and all the global citizens you'll meet are really the icing on the cake. I love that my group from January still meets monthly to check-in on each other! See less

If you are faced with the big question of life: what's next? or you feel that something is missing in your life, the Unsettled crew makes you feel most welcome and brings you together with an amazing "tribe" of people asking the same questions and gives you tools and processes to navigate your life with. The virtual retreat in November 2019 was a very inspiring experience and while travelling has always been at my heart, the virtual version had the advantage that I could participate immediately and finding answers to my questions instead of waiting for the next holiday to come and it was also easier to focus and work on certain processes. We had a lot of 1:1 calls as well and I did manage to meet some of my fellow Unsettlers in person later and connected also to those Alumni living in the same city as me. See less

I loved the application process - they are thoughtful and purposeful about who applies and is successful - this makes the experience for all participants fruitful and ensures the goals and purpose of Unsettled are achieved - but so are the personal goals of the participants. I have signed up for 2 events this year - Beirut/Lebanon and Tuscany and honestly I can't wait!! 🙂

There is something very magical about how this organization is able to attract like minded people, from all over the globe to gather in one place. I recently came off of a 2 week Unsettled experience in Bali and the most valuable thing I got out of it was the powerful and deep connections I made there, along with their skills, passions, and selves they shared. I now have new friends/family from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain, South Africa, Australia, Estonia, Italy, Switzerland, Amsterdam, Vancouver, Bali, and even a few from my home country in the US - Washington DC, Seattle, and San Diego. I have already, and will continue to make my way across the world to visit these new friends in their home countries, and my home will always be open to any of them when they make their way to San Diego. Each one is wicked smart, curious, and interested in exploring the new, unsettled, exciting way of life. I am so much more interesting, and enthusiastic about my future because of the two weeks I spent with those who BeUnsettled was able to bring together. Oh - and Bali was pretty awesome too! 😎 Best, life changing experience at just the right time for me! I'm proud to be an alumni. Thank you! See less

Hopping on a boat and sailing the BVIs with a tribe of fun, kind and accepting strangers from all over the world, was such a fantastic decision. It helped me open up, experience travelling with a different lens, see incredible pictures with my eyes and my soul and make a group of new friends that think alike and explore this beautiful world with their hearts and hands open. Having done a month long stay in Morocco and a week of sailing in the BVI’s and Baja, I can honestly say Unsettled has had me reconsider the way I travel and experience the world. Previously I had spent years avoiding anything that involved more than just me or a few friends as I preferred traveling light, keeping things simple, and having all the freedom possible to wander, be impulsive, and be curious. Turns out sharing the process of discovery with a close knit global family can make it even better, and the month long structure of Unsettled gives you as much freedom as you desire to choose your own adventure. In Morocco I was also able to receive and give advice regarding business development which has helped me immensely upon returning. The sailing trips have opened up a whole new world of living on the water with a tiny global tribe. Overall the Unsettled experience has exceeded expectations and opened up my world to even richer experiences when I want to get out and explore. See less

Unsettled is the perfect mix of people, activities and location! I went on my first sail with unsettled and discovered an amazing world of global friends who I now keep very dear to my heart as they represent all the values I stand up for. The sailing location in the Bvi was now a top destination on my travel history, and was made even more perfect by the impromptu debates, open hearted conversations, sail races, star gazing and tons of dancing with only moonlight. Unsettled has truly been one of the best experiences I have had in my life, and I’m looking to continue to grow my collection of trips with them. See less

I recently returned from my first trip with Unsettled and I've already booked another. I sailed for a week in Baja and left wanting more. I can't wait to add to my memories of fishing, swimming with manta rays, snorkeling with pufferfish, grilling on uninhabited islands, and dancing and relaxing with my new global family. I ended the trip with some new skills, new friendships, and a desire to continue living a life of exploration and excitement.

Unsettled offers a unique way to see the world: real, up-close, with an easy-going style and great people. I went on the one week sailing trip to Baja Sur this October. My boat hosted people I will stay in touch with long after the trip, I saw remote and beautiful places most visitors to the area would never see otherwise, and I came home with a fresh perspective. The founders are truly loving, caring and wonderful folks to travel with, and the global Unsettled community is close knit and very welcoming! See less

Signing up for Unsettled represented a tipping point in my life. A week after I clicked that blue button, I quit my big job with no idea what was next, what I really wanted, or how things would work out. IT WAS THE BEST DECISION I'VE EVER MADE IN MY LIFE. Saying yes to living unsettled taught me how I feel most secure not when I have all the things we associate with the ‘American dream’, but when I’m deeply connected to myself and honoring the desires of my heart. I learned I can throw out the map and make my way by walking. When you travel with Unsettled, sometimes these strangers will bring you a Unicorn costume and literally pull you to shore. They will dance with you under tropical rain, teach you how to do the limbo with a horn 🦄, pour you rum until the moon sets and the sky fills with a million stars, and make sure you know ALL PEOPLE from ALL WALKS OF LIFE can hold you in love. I can't say enough good things about Unsettled. I now have a global family or friends, thought partners, and even business partners that make my life so much richer. See less

Unsettled is a great experience. It is not a trip, a holiday or even a retreat. My month in Bali was a wholesome experience full of networking, activities and challenges. The people in my group was super diverse, from all parts of the world and walks of life. Some were working full time, some were on a sabbatical, some were in-between jobs. The combination made for great conversations and for new ideas to come up. The living space was beautiful, the office space even more so. We had outings, workshops, dinners and mini holidays at Gilli! Our agenda was full for a month, yet everyone had time to work and to work on themselves. Would do it again no doubt!

Meeting new people from all around the world, sharing not just workshops but emotions, experiences.. making a new family with no boundaries, having a home away from home, discovering new culture, activities, pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and much more. Words cannot express what I lived, the relationships and bonds I made, the experience of being surrounded by ike minded people expanding their horizons, discovering that every human is searching for the same thing, the same needs... you will be amazed. Hands down this has been one of the most rewarding, challenging and energizing experiences. How, you ask? In every way I thought it would be and in many ways I never expected. I learned to embrace the uncertainty that exists in my life, remembered the passion I have for my work and why I love doing it, discovered my Ikigai, tapped into the local culture for spirituality, focus and to learn mindfulness, worked on unique projects, took weekend trips to beautiful places, and more -- all in the company of an amazing group of people who challenged me, inspired me and encouraged me to think bigger, be bolder and never give up on my dream or my journey. So yeah, tell your friends and family this is as awesome as it sounds. And get ready to live outside of your comfort zone for a month. Honestly, I can't wait for my next trip.

So just about a year ago I made the decision to do my first Unsettled trip, in Bali no less. I found out about Unsettled on a sponsored ad on Facebook and it looked interesting but I was a little cautious for many reasons. I indicated my interest for the September 2017 Bali group and within a short time I had a Skype call with the amazing Alex of Unsettled and it was a done deal, I was sold and convinced that this is what my soul needed. I'm so late with this review, but I have written it a hundred times in my head. All the amazing things I loved about the concept, the trip and the people. Unsettled facilitates these fantastic 30 day co-working experiences, bringing together a group of dynamic, different but wonderful people from all over the world, arranging accommodation, experiences and co-working facilities, if you need it. I personally wanted the option to work but while in Bali, I was like, meh, you're not in Bali everyday are u! The trip was nothing I could have imagined but everything I could have possibly wanted, my beloved Alex was not on the trip but I soon learnt that apparently everyone in the Unsettled team, Lala, Bonnie and Kelly were wonderful people, with a passion for what they do and so much experience and expertise at the end of it I literally could not find one way to suggest and improvement for how they did what they did. The participants came from all corners of the globe, I'm from Trinidad, in the Caribbean, there were ppl from the UK, Lebanon, South Africa, Ghana, Germany, Canada, Maldova, Jordan, Yemen, Egypt and the list goes on, but we shed tears as we had to part ways after a month of becoming like family. There was adventure, learning, purpose, relaxation, excitement, soul searching and bliss all coming together to form a truly life changing experience. It was truly cathartic... 11/10 chance I will do it again, I'm dying to do the Morocco trip!! The end result, there is no way you would be making a mistake by doing it your only regret maybe like mine is wishing u had done it sooner... Cheers guys

I spent a month in Bali with Unsettled where I met 29 incredible people from all walks of life, and found a little part of me in all of them. These people were intelligent, witty, bloody smart, beautiful, adventurous, hilarious, and full of joy. We were a great mix of full-time workers, freelance illustrators, creative writers and data analysts and we actually really enjoyed that not all of us were always in that 'work work' or 'play play' mode during our month. We all had a choice to be selective and find space for that balance/imbalance in our own experience. Unsettled offers a flexible space and a great infrastructure where you're responsible for your decision to attend a group activity vs. meeting a deadline for work. Aside from the group lunches, family dinners and adventures, this month allowed me to share my story with the group and let me be part of others’ stories. I'm so grateful to have had the conversations and the brainstorm idea sessions with all my fellow Unsettlers. Definitely recommend this program to anyone who finds themselves in a strange (but wonderful) transition phase of life. You'll walk out with the best memories, a full heart and a ton of inspiration.

I attended the Cape Town retreat in October and I have to say it was an incredible experience. The group was impressively diverse: entrepreneurs, artists, designers, freelancers and people in between jobs. So much too learn from each other - informally or in workshops that were run by either Unsettled or participants. Unsettled provides a program that gives the month some structure and adventure. But still enough space to do your own stuff. However, it is your month! You set your intention what you wanna get out of this and your responsibility to take care that you stick to it :) I really enjoyed the cultural insides and local involvement. Would do it again :)

I attended the Cape Town Unsettled trip and I was really impressed with the quality of the experience, especially for the price offered by this company. The peer group was diverse but melded well together and provided about 26 individuals to share a unique experience with. More than half of the participants were working full time but seemed to find a good balance between work and exploring the city. There were many peer developed workshops along with weekly workshops or events coordinated by the group leaders, which made this month feel like an experience rather than just a month abroad. The focus on self development and community are two aspects I really enjoyed about this trip. I would definitely recommend this company to friends and found the staff to be very receptive to any suggestions or issues throughout.

This program IS NOT a co-working retreat. It's a holidays retreat composed by people who want to party and have fun. In my group, less than 20% of the people had some sort of job, almost 50% were unemployed and the rest were in full-time holidays. The workshops developed by the participants were mediocre at best. But the adventure activities had really good feedback. If you will quit your job or you can get a month of holidays, I would definitely recommend this. You will have a lot of fun with like-minded people. But if you work remotely, you will definitely not make business connections, learn something or find any opportunity for collaboration. Very unlikely. Unsettled is equivalent to summer holidays with random diverse strangers from all over the world. So definitely go if you want that. You may end up with a bunch of new friends (these friends are the only reason you are paying $2000 for). I suspect this is why this program gets great reviews. Beside those $2000, expect spending around $1000 extra USD at least during the month.

An inspiring, unforgettable experience. I absolutely loved my month with Unsettled (30 Days in Bali, October 2016) and still keep in touch with the amazing people I met there(with reunions in 6 countries so far!). I've done other coliving retreats in the past, but the way they structure and facilitate their retreats puts them above all the rest. The Unsettled team takes a mindful approach that immediately creates an open, friendly and inclusive environment from day one. It was easily one of the best months of my life. Extremely unprofessional. I applied a few weeks ago to a destination in November and waited almost 2 weeks but didn't receive a response. I tried looking for a phone number or email to communicate with them and check on my application but there isn't one. So I wrote them on messenger inquiring about my application. They responded right away asking for more details such as my email address and said they could not find anything but would check and get back to me. After a few days, I had not heard back so I wrote them again but this time they didn't even reply and yes, they saw my message. Sounded like a great program but after this terrible experience where they were extremely rude, unprofessional, and clearly didn't care about my application, I am no longer interested and have shared this with friends and family, and will share with anyone who mentions this program.

So, the benefits of traveling are all good and well. However, this right here is akin to a factory that produces dreams-come-true with a built-in family and a hearty dose of laughter, sprinkled with all of the benefits of work & travel. In less fluffy terms, I loved every moment I spent living Unsettled in Buenos Aires, Argentina (Nov '16). The cool thing is I keep meeting up with Unsettlers wherever I go; even ones who weren't on my trip. So the experience lives on. Living Unsettled (you'll have to experience it to understand what this truly means) is a daily choice regardless of location. It's choosing happiness, really. I just need to choose in which cities I want to be happy next because I'm definitely doing this again. *NB: No, Jonathan and Michael did not pay me to say nice things. Yes, I really believe in these guys and I had that much fun.

I've just finished my Unsettled month in Medellin! I've loved every minute of it! For me, the real value of Unsettled is that the experience provides a ready-made professional community to tap into as you live a month abroad. The unique group on our co-working retreat was able to provide me with valuable information on SEO; help me design a new logo for my blog; taught me how to create my own table runner in a shibori dyeing workshop; offered relationship advice and so much more! The participants came from so many walks of life and taught me so much outside of my normal friendships. Getting the access to these high calibre individuals and chatting to them about their expertise would be difficult and costly in any other setting. We also quickly formed relationships and shared a fantastic month together travelling around Colombia and hanging out in the evenings. One of the best experiences I've ever had! Definitely worth every penny!

Great idea, poorly executed. Will definitely do this again, but never again with Unsettled. (There are a number of companies that do this same thing.) Had numerous issues with WiFi, housing, and other logistics. The customer-service or support from our group lead was significantly lacking (even, rude) and things that we were told were included, we ended up paying for out-of-pocket. They over promised and under delivered and many of the website details and expectations that were set were false. The only positive pieces were the people and the city - two things outside of their control! Bottom line: Do it! ...but with a different company.

Unsettled is a one-of-a-kind, intentional, meaningful experience. But more than that, it's a community. It is a community of the strongest kind. Many in our group remarked on feeling as though we'd found "our people" through this experience. If you feel a pull to what Unsettled is about in any way, embark on a retreat with them. Love unsettled! Met great people, experienced amazing Bali, and had a super productive coworking space. Will do it again.

A super cool idea for nextgen professionals. Congratulations to the founders, and I look forward to joining one of the future gatherings.
