Day 1: Damascus — Arrive in the morning and transfer to the hotel, then a full day in Damascus — the Umayyad Mosque, one of the oldest and largest in the world, the underground chapel of St Ananias, and the souks of the old city, finishing with a walk down Straight Street. Day 2: Krak des Chevaliers — Drive to the Crusader fortress of Krak des Chevaliers, one of the best-preserved medieval castles anywhere, with time at the fort and its view across the valley. On to Al Wadi for the night.
